MarketScope on Wireless LAN Intrusion Prevention Systems just published

Mountain View, CA - June 1, 2006 - AirTight® Networks, a provider of wireless perimeter security solutions, today announced that AirTight Networks rated "Positive" in Gartner's Wireless LAN Intrusion Prevention Systems MarketScope, 1H06 report. This MarketScope was published on May 24, 2006 by Gartner, and authored by Rachna Ahlawat.

“This market will double in size in 2006 as more organizations look to tighten the security of their wireless LANs,” said Rachna Ahlawat, Research Director at Gartner, in the report. “Wireless IPSs provide an additional layer of security to an enterprise. Given that wireless is a shared medium, and it is relatively cheap and easy for employees and visitors to set up small wireless networks, enterprises must consider deploying a wireless IPS to detect and mitigate rogues and prevent denial of service attacks.”

AirTight Networks’ SpectraGuard Enterprise has established its market position by delivering the key elements of an effective wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS):
detecting and correctly classifying wireless threats – to catch all threats, while minimizing false alarms
preventing (multiple, simultaneous) wireless threats – while continuing to scan for new ones
accurately locating the wireless threats on a floor map – so they can be removed.

AirTight Networks distributes these capabilities as a standalone security overlay solution through VARs to enterprises, as well as in an integrated, WLAN switch & WIPS solution through OEM partners such as Colubris Networks, Extreme Networks, and Siemens Communications. AirTight Networks has also announced a CTDP partnership with Cisco Systems and is a member of Check Point’s OPSEC Alliance program.

“We believe this Gartner MarketScope rating is very important to the market,” said Dennis Tsu, vice president of marketing at AirTight Networks. “We feel Gartner’s assessments carry a lot of weight with enterprise customers and influence many decisions. We are proud that Gartner has given us a positive rating.” A copy of the Gartner MarketScope report will be available on AirTight Network’s website.

AirTight Networks’ family of products include SpectraGuard® Enterprise, SpectraGuard MNC, SpectraGuard Sentry, SpectraGuard Planner, and SpectraGuard SAFE (Security Agent For Endpoints) products.
